A few days after Michael and Chloe’s incredible destination wedding in Chianti I got to photograph another destination wedding in Tuscany. Chris and Courtney flew out with their closest family and friends to spend the week in an idyllic villa overlooking Lake Trasimeno. Epic wedding portraits were hugely important to them so they hired the amazing Fabio Mirulla who was recently named wedding photographer of the year in Italy. We arrived in the morning to Courtney and her ladies getting ready in the main villa while Chris and the guys got changed in one of the guest rooms adjacent to house. The ability to have many of your guests stay with you on the property is one reason why Villa San Crispolto a great intimate wedding venue for those considering having a Tuscany destination wedding. Located on top of a hill near the town of Cortona, the villa is steaped in heritage and is in fantastic condition. Courtney and Chris had their first look just inside of the main room before heading to the back of the property for their outdoor ceremony. The location of the ceremony allowed guests to have sweeping views of the Italian countryside. While the property has plenty of great spots for wedding photos, Fabio knew of an incredible location nearby. We made the five minute drive and soon found ourselves on a dirt road lined with cypress trees. It was a scene straight out a movie and was exactly what C+C wanted when they decided to have their destination wedding in Umbria. The sun set across the fields and once it was gone we headed back up the road to their reception venue, also conveniently located on the same property as the Villa San Crispolto. After a number of hilarious speeches the party really got kicked into high gear. Confetti canons and smoke bombs were brought out which resulted in a even more epic wedding photos. A highlight of my year for sure!
