2015 was wild.
Starting the year off in South Africa, I was lucky to have a constant changing landscape to inspire me for the year ahead. From there, my wife and I returned to Tanzania where we were working with the Jane Goodall Institute, and where I photographed some truly memorable destination weddings on Zanzibar and the mainland. It broke my heart to leave my wife abroad, but for two and a half months I came back to Vancouver and had the opportunity to shoot in some of the most beautiful locations in British Columbia. We soon reunited at our “halfway point” in Europe, where I was fortunate to photograph weddings in Aachen, Germany, and the legendary Black Forest. The summer concluded with weddings in Kelowna, Vancouver and an intimate beach wedding on Kauai, Hawaii. 2015 was capped off with two highlights, one professional and one personal. I was honoured to be named a finalist for best wedding portrait at the BC Wedding Awards in November and just prior to that Chelsea and I received the best kind of news – she was pregnant!
2016 is shaping up to be another amazing year with a baby on the way soon and a move back to Cape Town, South Africa for the winter. While the summer will see me photograph most weddings here in Vancouver and throughout BC I am still available for destination weddings wherever you have them planned.
If you are interested in having me photograph your wedding in Vancouver or any other destination I’d love to hear from you. Please use the contact form at the top of the page or shoot me an email: mf@mathiasfastphotography.com. I still have extremely limited availability for this summer and am booking wedding destinations for 2017.
