Ben and Meredith’s rooftop wedding at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver was pure class. Venues don’t come much more elegant or classic than this one and it was the perfect spot for them to tie the knot. Meredith and her bridesmaids got ready in the expansive Morningside Suite which is part of the newly renovated Heritage suite series. The morning was relaxed and full of laughing and soon enough it was time for Meredith to get into her wedding dress. Again, it was the perfect choice and suited not only her but classic feel of the venue beautifully. While this happened Ben and his guys were getting dressed in a nearby suite.
A town car was waiting for Meredith to bring her to another classic wedding ceremony venue – St. Andrews Wesley United Church. While its not the easiest venue to photograph in it rewards those able to work with the minimal light. The church is as grand as they come and easily the most classic spot to get married in Vancouver. The long walk down the aisle makes for a romantic and emotional entrance. After the ceremony we took family portraits on the front steps of the church before heading into Stanley Park with the wedding party. The area is popular for wedding portraits and so I tried finding a couple locations that aren’t seen as often.
The huge ballrooms at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver get all the love and for good reason – there’s nothing else like them in the city. They can seat up to 400 guests or cocktail receptions up to 700. With north facing windows, permanent hardwood dance floors and the original chandeliers these rooms are amazing. Meredith and Ben decided to go with a slightly more modern route though and had their wedding reception on the 15th floor in the Roof specialty room. Surrounded with floor to ceiling windows, this unique wedding venue offers some of the best views of downtown Vancouver. The room can seat anywhere from 160 – 300 guests depending on the type of reception. The sunken bar is a definite highlight and adds Décor was kept to a minimal and it was a great choice given the incredible surroundings. Darcy is the dedicated wedding planner and not only helps keep everything running on time and but is a fantastic person to have on your team when planning your Hotel Vancouver wedding. As you’d expect from a Fairmont, the award winning food and service are impeccable. The best wedding DJ in Vancouver, Brent (DJ BFAD) kept guests dancing until the early hours of the morning.
As someone who worked for Fairmont Hotels for a number of years before becoming a professional wedding photographer, I feel I’m qualified to recommend the Hotel Vancouver as your wedding venue. It’s the most iconic building in Vancouver and oozes sophistication and class. If you have a large guest list and want a luxury wedding you need not look further than this property. Recently named the best wedding venue at the BC Wedding Awards, Hotel Vancouver is the perfect choice whether you want a romantic wedding, a modern celebration or an elegant affair. As far as a rootfop wedding in Vancouver goes it doesn’t get much better than this venue. In addition to the actual reception location high above the city you have the option of taking Vancouver rooftop wedding photos outside adjacent to the reception space. It is easily one of the most unique locations for wedding photos in Vancouver. If you are looking for a rooftop wedding venue in Vancouver I highly recommend inquiry with the Fairmont.
