There are certain venues in the city that transcend trends, offering an atmosphere of established luxury that feels just as relevant today as it did a century ago. The Vancouver Club is undoubtedly one of these places. Located in the heart of the downtown business district, this heritage building is the definitive choice for couples who envision a wedding that is classic, sophisticated, and utterly timeless. For Alex and Jodie, choosing this space meant setting a tone of elegance that carried through every element of their day, from the architecture to the finest decor details.
The day began in the Georgian Room, which is arguably one of the most beautiful ceremony spaces in Vancouver. With its soft, neutral palette, intricate crown molding, and large windows, it provides a bright and airy setting that requires very little embellishment to look stunning. Alex and Jodie utilized this space for both their vows and the cocktail hour, which highlights one of the greatest strengths of the Vancouver Club: the seamless flow between distinct spaces. The room’s understated elegance was the perfect backdrop for their floral arrangements, which featured a romantic mix of white, blush pink, and vibrant orange blooms. These pops of colour added a modern warmth to the traditional setting without overpowering the classic architecture.
Moving into the evening, the celebration shifted to the Grand Ballroom for the reception. This room is the crown jewel of the venue, famous for its soaring ceilings and glittering crystal chandeliers. To complement the grandeur of the space, the decor leaned heavily into gold accents that caught the light beautifully. Gold chargers and custom escort cards mirrored the gilded details of the room, while hundreds of candles were placed throughout the tables. As the sun set and the overhead lights dimmed, the flickering candlelight created a warm, intimate glow that made the massive room feel incredibly romantic and inviting.
One of the reasons this venue works so well for a black-tie aesthetic is how it complements the fashion of the day. Jodie wore an exquisite beaded gown that shimmered under the ballroom lights, a texture that paired perfectly with the historic weight of the surroundings. Photography at the Vancouver Club is a dream because the interiors offer so much variety. You have the moody, leather-bound atmosphere of the bar and the bright, clean lines of the atrium, all within a few steps of each other. It allows for a diverse gallery of images that feel editorial and polished without ever having to leave the building.
For couples like Alex and Jodie who prioritize guest experience and timeless design, this venue offers an unmatched level of service and style. It is a place where history meets modern luxury, ensuring that when you look back at your wedding photos in thirty years, the style will look just as chic and appropriate as it does today. The combination of the Georgian Room’s daylight and the Ballroom’s evening glamour provides a narrative arc to the day that is hard to replicate anywhere else in the city.
While the ballroom is stunning, its not the only reception location at the Vancouver Club. Take a look at this solarium wedding reception.
