In the past 8 years I have photographed over 300 weddings in every kind of setting, from chilly mountaintops in Canada to the hot beaches of Nungwi. The fact that you’re considering having your destination wedding in Zanzibar means you already know how incredible of a place it is. Few locations in the world have the same combination of world class beaches and historical buildings that Zanzibar does. The variety can make for some incredible wedding venues.

Having spent considerable time exploring the island of Zanzibar, I’d suggest considering the following places for your Zanzibar wedding:
Emerson Spice // Located in the heart of stone town, this iconic hotel makes for an incredibly unique wedding venue. The intimate setting also makes the perfect location for an African elopement.
Nungwi Beach // In my (and many others) opinion the best beach on the entire island. This is mainly due to the lack of a reef close to shore which means the ocean washes up on a white sand beach all day regardless of the tide. Many other beaches have a long stretch of dry reef during low tide. If you want a beach wedding on Zanzibar in the heart of the action this is the place to do it.
Hotel Z // A fantastic hotel on the aformentioned best beach on the island. Also boasts an incredible infinity pool which makes for great people watching. While the venue does have space for receptions, its a perfect spot to get ready or accomodate your guests.
Breezes Beach Club // While this all inclusive resort is located on the east side of the island and doesn’t see the sun setting over the ocean, its an immaculate and expansive property which make for great beach wedding photos.
The Palms, Zanzibar // If you’re looking for a luxury wedding venue look no further.
Marafiki Bungalows // A smaller resort on the east coast of Zanzibar. Marafiki is the perfect wedding venue for those wanting to take over an entire resort. It is smaller, private and features fantastic service.
