An incredible wedding at Diamant Estate –  one of the most intimate and unique wedding venues near Cape Town. This gem of a property is located in Paarl, just a short drive from the world famous winelands of Stellenbosch. For those of you considering holding your wedding at Diamant Estate you truly are spoiled for choice. The old chapel is perhaps the most popular for ceremonies and is where Angela and Tyghe decided to say their I do’s. A converted wine cellar, this space is incredibly intimate and can seat up to 100 people. The chandeliers mixed with the exposed wood and concrete are cool enough but add some insane florals from one of the talented florists in the area (my recommendation below) and the space becomes transformed.

The expansive lawn at the entrance to the venue (and just outside of the Old Chapel) is the perfect spot for cocktail hour. Your guests will have the best time lounging on the outdoor furniture with a drink in hand from the outdoor bar. With the Manor and massive oak trees behind them they’ll be looking at mountains and one of the best views around. Angela and Tyghe had a live jazz band entertaining their guest during the cocktail hour and if it works with your budget I highly recommend doing the same. Honestly, the entire setting is second to none.

While I have yet to photograph inside the Barn, it seems like a great spot for in house guests to enjoy breakfasts or even for extremely intimate weddings. Being indoor, it works in all kinds of weather.

The main venue is also a converted wine cellar and just like the rest of the Diamant Estate it can be transformed into so many different things based on your vision. For this wedding, Kraak Events and Liezl Kotze took things to the next level. Hundreds of edison bulbs and hanging flowers and greenery running the entire length of the room made for one of the most romantic wedding reception settings I have ever seen! The room is built in the traditional Cape Dutch style and joins an inner courtyard (perfect for dancing) via a floor to ceiling glass doors. The courtyard also boasts two fireplaces to keep guest warm while they aren’t dancing up a storm.

As for locations to take wedding portraits – you have a little bit of everything. The white Cape Dutch buildings provide a great architectural backdrop and the surrounding trees and foliage become magical one the sun starts setting. The epic view of the winelands doesn’t hurt either.

All that said, its easy to see why Diamant Estate is a very romantic wedding venue. I’ve loved photographing weddings there and can’t wait to go back!
