Kate has been my wife’s best friend since they were in first grade, so to say that there was a bit of pressure for this engagement session would be an understatement. That said, from the moment we started shooting, Kate and Jon were such absolute naturals that it put us all at ease, and I had one of my most enjoyable shoots in memory. We explored all over Vancouver, from the iconic Red Truck Brewery to the insanely instagrammable Arbutus greenway, and finally to Spanish Banks for an incredible sunset. All in all, the session was everything Kate and Jon: down to earth, effortlessly cool, and utterly romantic.

And yes, that is a sword, and they did sabre a champagne bottle on the beach. Like I said, they’re pretty damn cool.

A few words from Kate on her experience working with me: “I can not say enough amazing things about Mathias and is photography. As a photographer, he is calm, cool, collected, professional and a ton of fun to hang out with! His photos are nothing short of perfection. We got our engagment shoot images back very quickly and we are in love with how they turned out. The framing, lighting, editing and location scouting are all top notch. We really felt that he captured our relationship and enjoyed the whole process. 10/10 would recommend Mathias for your special day.”
