Thank you for stopping by! If you are planning a destination wedding at Poets Cove on Pender Island and still need a photographer I would love to hear from you. It is one of the best wedding venues on the gulf islands and one I am very familiar with. Below are images from a recent wedding along with pricing for getting married at Poets Cove.

The Gulf Islands have an incredible way of making a person feel like they’re in the middle of nowhere while only being a short ferry ride from Vancouver. Ashley and Jonathen chose Poets cove resort and spa on Pender Island for their destination wedding and the day couldn’t have been more perfect. Tucked into a small bay on the island, Poets Cove is a fantastic wedding venue that has plenty of accomodation to host your entire guest list. With most of their guests traveling to the gulf islands for the first time this arrangement was definitely ideal. Every since photographing another wedding at Poets Cove a number of years ago I’ve been looking forward to going back. The islands have a unique way of forcing one into relaxation and I did just that the day before the wedding as I spent the afternoon scouting locations for wedding portraits near the venue. The winding roads, old growth forest and rocky beaches make for epic photo locations. On the day of the wedding I met Ashley as she was getting ready in the main villa at Poets Cove. The morning couldn’t have been more relaxed and allowed me to capture candid photos of the wedding prep. Ashley and Jonathen chose to have a first look near the ocean and then we headed into the forest for the rest of their portrait session. Most wedding ceremonies at Poets Cove take place on the outdoor patio with the ocean as a backdrop and there aren’t many locations more stunning to say I do. A cocktail hour followed in the same space before guest headed indoors to the ballroom for the reception. One of my favorite moments from the day happened shortly before the grand entrance when I happened to be walking past the lobby and spotted Ashley and Jonathen practicing their first dance on a balcony. Based on a recommendation from their fantastic wedding planner Melissa, we took a few minutes during the reception to take a few more portraits at a nearby church covered in moss. As far as destination wedding photos goes, it truly was a unique location! Ashley and Jonathen wanted to have an organic wedding and no where was it more reflected than in the florals. Succulents were everywhere (including the entire bouquet!) and we replanted by the florist following the wedding. I love that they did this intentionally, especially given the incredible natural setting we were in. As I drove off at the end of the night I had the same feeling as I did the the first time I photographed a wedding at Poets Cove and am still looking forward to getting back their soon.
