Its no secret that Vancouver gets a lot of rain (especially in the fall and winter). If you’re going to have a fall wedding in Vancouver the weather is definitely something you have to keep into account. Ali and Brendan (along with their all star planner Beth from Sweetheart events) knew this and booked the perfect wedding venue for a rainy cold day. They completely transformed Bridges Restaurant on Granville Island with plenty of candles and florals and turned it into a cozy and intimate setting. Ali and her crew spend the early afternoon getting ready at the Granville Island hotel. Situated extremely close to the wedding venue, this hotel is right on the water and has amazing views of Vancouver from many of the rooms. The wedding ceremony took place inside in front of a wall of windows with the Vancouver skyline in the background. The ceremony was equal parts funny and emotional and soon enough we were heading back down the stair to take rainy wedding photos at Granville Island. Another great thing about having your wedding at Bridges Restaurant is the number of great covered options you have for wedding portraits. Along with the entire wedding party we dodged puddles and ran from one awning to another trying to stay dry. Despite it being quite dark outside we we able to get some great candid photos. Ali is a huge fan of Star trek so we ended off the portrait part of the day with a wedding photo inspired by the show. While we were out taking rainy wedding photos on Granville Island, Beth and her team were flipping the entire restaurant from ceremony to reception space. This meant more florals, more candles and a whole lot of unique touches including a gold dinosaur for each place setting. The entire place looked stunning! Speeches throughout the wedding reception had everyone laughing and the incredible food served by Bridges was incredible. Soon enough it was time for the first dance and Ali and Brendan kicked things off surrounded by their favorite people with the city lights of Vancouver in the background.

A few words from the bride on her experience working with me: “Mathias captured so many fun, beautiful, artistic, and romantic moments from our wedding day. He discreet and professional – making each shot look special and perfect – our photos look like they belong in a magazine but in a perfectly natural way. He is organized, has great communication skills, and knows exactly how to capture the perfect shot. He also plans out unique places and shots, taking into account lighting and landscape, so that no time is wasted on the wedding day. Some of our photos have already been featured on wedding blogs! He also is very timely in getting wedding photos back to you. For all of you couples considering Mathias – take my advice and hire him immediately. He is thoughtful, extraordinary talented, loves what he does, and this will shine through if your photos. Thank you Mathias!!”
