When it comes to choosing a wedding venue with a view, few places in the world can top the Sea to Sky gondola in Squamish. Named best wedding ceremony venue three years in a row at the BC Wedding Awards, the Sea to sky gondola is like no other. While (in my opinion) best suited for more intimate weddings, the gondola can accomodate up to 100 wedding guests. There are three options for wedding ceremony locations but my favorite is easily the spirit deck. It blends in with the surrounding forest and allows for unique wedding photos. The suspension bridge has to be in the running for best wedding aisle of all time. One of my favorite photos from Russell and Victoria’s wedding is of Russ looking back as his bride makes her way across the bridge. The views from both the ceremony and wedding reception locations are breathtaking and feature the coastal mountain range, the Stawamus Chief and Howe Sound. Russell and Victoria were treated with a smattering of rain of their wedding but thanks to their indoor reception space, everyone was kept dry. The exposed wood beams and floor to ceiling windows make for a cozy and intimate wedding reception venue. When it comes to wedding photos at Sea to sky gondola, you’re spoilt for choice. The suspension bridge is very popular for wedding portraits but my favorite is the trail that leads to the chief overlook platform. There are so many spots in the forest just off the trail that make for natural and candid wedding photos. While you aren’t able to have a ceremony on the deck, it makes for the most epic wedding portraits. Dancing happens out on the deck underneath a tent and once again you’ll be surround by the impressive views. As all your guests need to get down the mountain, the sea to sky gondola does have an earlier curfew than some wedding venues. With plenty of restaurants and bar in nearby Squamish however, your party can keep going until the early hours of the morning. I’m already looking forward to photographing my next Sea to sky gondola wedding!
