I have probably photographed more weddings at Swaneset Bay than any other wedding venue in Vancouver and each one has been unique. The space and setting is so versatile that its an incredible spot to take wedding photos. Along with the variety in couples, decors and theme I always seem to get a different kind of weather. I’ve been able to shoot at Swaneset in every season and have taken wedding photos in the rain, snow, on overcast days and on really hot summer days. The venue my be the grandest of any in the lower mainland thanks to its iconic floor to ceiling wall of windows. While many couples choose to have their wedding ceremony at Swaneset indoors, Jo-Marie and Ryan picked the back lawn outside. What made the day extra special is that Jo-Marie and her family are all from South Africa, a place I am now lucky to call home for part of the year. I travel between Vancouver and Cape Town often to shoot destination weddings but it was nice to photograph a South African transplant in the city I grew up in. Ryan was dressed in his RCMP attire as JM made her way down the long staircase behind Swaneset. The ceremony had plenty of funny moments thanks to the always entertaining Brent from Hey Rev. Following the wedding ceremony we stayed on the grounds for wedding portraits. While the epic Pitt Lake is nearby and a very popular spot for wedding photos, theres really no need to leave the Swanest Bay Resort property. A must have for JM was a showstopping cake and the Cake and the Giraffe delivered! I happened to walk into the reception venue at just the right time as the sun came streaming through the windows and shone directly onto the cake. Incredible! Thanks to the amazing Shawna from Sweetheart events, the reception went off perfectly and I left to a packed dance floor!
