Autumn and Tim booked me to photograph their wedding in Sooke after seeing one of my images in the Junebug best of the best destination photo contest. I quickly got excited for their wedding as Sooke was an area of Vancouver Island I hadn’t explored yet. They both spent months preparing Tim’s family property and basically created an entire garden around their ceremony. It looked stunning! Only their closest family and friends were invited and it made for an incredibly intimate wedding. My favorite part of the day had to be the portraits. As soon as I arrived on the property I saw an old row boat next to a pond. I had a feeling they’d be up for it and they jumped at the chance to take the boat out for a few shots. Ringed by giant willow trees and with the sun shining through – it resulted in one of my favorite wedding portraits from this past summer. As I normally do for destination weddings, I arrived a day early in Sooke in order to scout a few portrait locations. I settled on Aylard Farm in East Sooke so as the sun set the three of us drove out. After be willing to stand in a somewhat flimsy boat I knew Autumn would be up for taking a ride on the beach rope swing. The rest our time was spent walking along the beach and jumping off rocks. So grateful for clients who not only place their trust in me but are willing to go the extra mile in order to get unique wedding portraits. The day after their wedding I headed back home not wanting to leave and already look forward to my next destination wedding in Sooke.
