Thanks for stopping by!
If you are planning a Sunwolf wedding and still need a photographer I would love to hear from you! It is quite possibly my favorite venue in BC and one I am very familiar with. Below are some images from a recent wedding along with pricing info for hosting your own celebration at Sunwolf Riverside Cabins.
Sunwolf Wedding Cost
The cost of having your wedding at Sunwolf ranges from $6225 (two weekday nights in the low season, May + October) to $15,800 for a three night public holiday weekend in the high season. Food and beverage is not included in these rates but they still contain a lot of value as you receive enough accomodation for 54 people in their riverside cabins.
Other pricing options include:
Two night weekend: $11,900 (High Season) and $8500 (Low Season)
Two Weekday nights (Tues + Wed only): $8000 (High season) and $6225 (Low Season)
You have the option of adding on a weekday night for an additional $3100 in the high season and $2725 in the low season.
Along with the riverside cabins, Logger’s shack and the Fisherman’s Cottage for your guests to sleep in you receive full use of the five acre estate which includes the lodge, grounds, fire pit, parking and outdoor washrooms.
As mentioned above, food and beverage is not included in the venue rental fee but Fergies cafe is is located on the property and provides incredible catering. Also not included is a reception tent (I highly recommend a clear top option), tables or chairs. Both Sunwolf and myself have a number of preferred vendors they can recommend. For availability, booking and food and beverage pricing please contact Sunwolf directly.

Jasmine and Daniel’s wedding at Sunwolf Riverside Cabins in Squamish was insanely fun. Before I get into that though, a little about this totally unique wedding venue.
Set alongside a mountain river surrounded by old growth forest, Sunwolf allows you to spend an entire weekend with your closest family and friends.
Most of the cabins are scattered throughout the forest but my personal favorites are those right along the river. They all make the perfect backdrop for wedding portraits, especially the main cabin with its bright yellow door. A huge perk to renting out the entire venue is that your guest are allowed to camp on site something not allowed to the general public.
One of the best things about hosting your wedding weekend at Sunwolf is that all your food can be taken care of. Fergie’s café is one of the best restaurants in Squamish and the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also cater the actual wedding receptions and I can attest that their food is fantastic. If you’d prefer to use a different caterer you’re more than welcome too and I’d highly recommend taking a look at the Collective Kitchen based out of Whistler. Food trucks are another fun and tasty option with Tacofino out of Vancouver being my favorite. While we’re on food – another great thing about Sunwolf is that they allow you to bring in your own alcohol. It’s a huge help with bringing down the wedding cost and also allows you to customize the bar menu as your see fit.
Wedding ceremonies are most often held in a small clearing right in the middle of the property. It’s one of the few true forest wedding venues (another being the Cheakamus Centre) close to Vancouver and easily the best in Squamish. More intimate wedding ceremonies (or elopements) can take place on the rocks next to the rivers with the cascade mountains as a backdrop.
Sunwolf does not have indoor receptions space but for good reason – the scenery is incredible. A tented wedding reception is definitely the way to go and I recommend a clear roof tent from Millenium Tents. If you’ve gotten this far you’ve seen the photos above and can see why it adds so much to your reception. Another benefit to having a clear ceiling tent is that it diffuses the sunlight and creates beautiful light for photographing in.
When it comes to portrait locations at Sunwolf its easy to see why it is such a popular wedding venue. The venue is surrounded by moss covered forest that looks otherworldly. Running right through the forest is an amazing blue river that contrasts beautifully with the greens of the tree. The mountains in the distant are the final touch and truthfully there’s no bad angle.
While Sunwolf Riverside Cabins is an incredible wedding venue, it does require a decent amount of planning as things like tents, chairs and décor aren’t provided. There are plenty of incredibly talented wedding planners in Vancouver though that will make planning your wedding at Sunwolf and breeze and I highly recommend making room in your budget for one. Two of the best in the area are Spotlight Events and Filosophi.
On to Jasmine and Daniel’s wedding. This adventurous couple could not have picked a more perfect venue for their wedding. Along with many of their friends they took care of most of the details and it made for a really beautiful atmosphere the entire day. Local wildflowers were used for the chuppah and Jasmine did her own hair and makeup in the morning. And her gold dress from Maria Lucia Hohan ??! I’ve NEVER seen anything like it and after spending only a few minutes with Jasmine I could see if suited her perfectly. Before the the actual ceremony they chose to officially get married only in the presence of the officiant, their parents and siblings. It really was a beautiful, emotional few minutes inside the main cabin as they exchanged their vows. The “full” ceremony happened outside in the forest clearing and it might have been the funniest wedding ceremony I have ever witnessed. Note to future couples – if you have a comedian in the family consider having them marry you. Jasmine’ brother did an incredible job and had crying with laughter. The personal vows exchanged were more of the same with a heavy dose of happy tears mixed in. I absolutely loved it. For their portraits we explored the best parts of Sunwolf and with help from wind coming off the water we got some great photos. All of their guests had such cool style that I had to take unique portraits of as many of them as I could.
Jasmine and Daniel decided to go with the clear tent for their reception I’m so glad they did. It softened the light and and made for perfect photographing conditions. Guests dined family style at long tables and ate food catered by nearby Fergie’s Café. For dessert, they had the genius idea of bringing in an ice cream truck and called on the best – Alice and Brohm. I highly recommend doing the same for your wedding at Sunwolf – it was some of the best ice cream I have ever had.

A few words from the bride on her experience working with me: “Mathias is such an incredible photographer and we could not have been more blown away by the photos he took for our wedding. He managed to capture the day in the most candid and genuine way, and got amazing shots of so many of our guests and family. We are two very unphotogenic people and somehow our photos are breathtaking and intimate. Very very highly recommended! Thanks again Mathias!!!”
