Steveston village is one of the most popular spots in Vancouver for engagement photos. Steveston is also where Ashley grew up and so it made sense to have her and Nick’s engagement session there. It also happens to be my backyard during the summer :) The Britannia Heritage Shipyards are full of restored buildings set right on the edge of the Fraser River and make a unique backdrop for engagement photos. I’ve shot in the shipyards and Steveston village many times but almost always during sunset. Due to our schedules, a morning session was our only option and it allowed us to shoot in spots I’ve never used before because of where the light was. Nick and Ashley spent most of our time laughing and before we knew it the sun was high in the sky and so we retreated to a local cafĂ© to finish of their session. I always enjoy ending or starting an engagement session at a coffee shop as it allows for plenty of candid photos. Steveston has many cute coffee shops that make great settings for engagement photos and we settled on Roccacini right in the middle of the village.
