From our first meeting I knew how special it was for Christine to have her wedding on the farm she grew up on just outside of Vancouver. Every detail held meaning, from the centerpieces fashioned out of old oil cans to the portrait session with her awesome cows inside the barn :) I arrived in the morning to Christine and her bridesmaids having a dance party in the house that she grew up on. The perfect way to start a wedding! Christine’s wedding dress was purchased from a boutique store in Vancouver and was stunningly unique and fit the rustic wedding theme perfectly. The weather forecast had threatened rain all week but it held off as Christine made her way behind the red bard for the first look. It was emotional and sweet and made for a beautiful scene as the wind picked up Christine’s vail. For the rest of their wedding photos we walked around the farm and picked spots that were important to Christine. My favorite had to be the candid portraits with the dairy cows she grew up with. When looking through the wedding photos above you’ll see they even made it into the table decor. The wind had picked up considerably by this time but that didn’t stop them from having their wedding ceremony in the field beside the barn. Guests sat on bails of hay and watched Christine and James exchange vows under a wooden arch. The choice for barn wedding venues in Vancouver is slim and Christine and James totally lucked out having their family property available. After the ceremony everyone made their way inside the rustic barn for the reception. It was the perfect farm wedding – while guests enjoyed the hilarious speeches throughout dinner the cows next door enjoyed their own meal :) Soon enough it was time for the first dance and Christine and James chose to have a live band accompany them. Can’t wait to photograph my next Vancouver barn wedding!

A few words from the bride on her experience working with me: “We can not say enough praise for Mathias’ work! When we got engaged, the first thing we did (after telling family, of course!) was book his photography services. We are so glad we did. His warm, thoughtful approach to telling the story of our wedding day was appreciated by both us and our guests. The photos are beautiful. Thanks Mathias for capturing it all!”
