I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my summer season than this backyard outdoor wedding in Summerland BC. Set in an apple orchard, the setting was an incredible heritage home that had been in Orin’s family for generations. I think I speak for all the vendors involved when I say it was the most unique wedding venue in Summerland (or anywhere for that matter) that we’ve seen. As cool as the setting was, the emotional moments throughout the day are what really took it to the next level. The excitement on everyone’s face was palpable, none more so than Lauren and Orin. Completely at ease with each other despite everything going on around them, they were an absolute joy to photograph. Witnessing their first look under the arbour alongside the family dog was an awesome moment. Afterwards we loaded up the bus and drove up Giant’s Head Mountain for wedding photos. Groomsmen and bridesmaids outfits were on point and there was not a bad view in site. The wedding ceremony was held on the steps of the home beneath the cracked facade and with vines creeping up the wall. Melinda from a New Leaf Floral Design worked her magic and wrapped the pillars with an amazing floral installation. Always such a pleasure getting to photograph her handiwork! Cocktail hour came compliments of Brodo and the very cool travelling bar from Mint Julep. As the sun faded from the sky and the weather turned chilly, space heaters were turned on and guests made their way into the cozy confines of the tent for the outdoor wedding reception. Speeches soon followed and alternated between hilarious and emotional. As the formal part of the reception came to a close the live band started up and Lauren and Orin had their first dance as husband and wife.
A huge thank you to Nicole for sending Lauren and Orin my way. A legend in her field and so much fun to work with!
