Thanks for stopping by! If you are interested in having me photograph your Vancouver mountain engagement session on Mount Seymour or any other location in the lower mainland I’d love to hear from you. Please use the contact form at the top of the page or shoot me an email: mf@mathiasfastphotography.com. In addition to engagement sessions I still have very limited availability for Vancouver and Cape Town weddings for this summer and and next.

What was supposed to be a short walk through the forest on top of a mountain in Vancouver for their engagement session turned into a full on hike. Super grateful for amazing clients like Sara and Trien. We had the most beautiful weather as we set out on the trail atop Mount Seymour and it only got better and better. We hiked the Dog mountain trail which ended with the most beautiful views of Vancouver and made for some epic mountaintop engagement photos. While I’d still consider this an adventure engagement session, this particular hike on Mount Seymour isn’t too strenuous. Lying on the North Shore just a short commute from downtown Vancouver, Mount Seymour is full of beautiful locations for engagement photos. What’s great about this mountain is that it is accessible for engagement sessions both in the summer and winter. Take a look at this winter engagement session to see what Mount Seymour looks like in the snow. In addition to the Dog mountain trail, Mystery Lake is a stunning hike which is a little shorter but more strenuous. I recently shot an engagement session at this mountain top lake and will be posting it on my blog soon. The mystery lake hike isn’t possible in the winter and even in the summer isn’t too clearly marked. If you’re interested in photographing some engagement or wedding portraits on this trail I’d highly recommend taking a look at the Vancouver Trails website. The Dog mountain hike is very clearly marked both in the summer and winter but I highly recommend wearing good hiking shoes in the winter or better yet snow shoes. The trail winds through old growth forest and past chilly mountain lakes and ends on a rocky outcropping overlooking downtown Vancouver. The photo opportunites are endless and it was only as the sun started to set over the city that we made our way back. If their vancouver mountain engagement session was any indication, Sara and Trien’s wedding next week is going to be epic!
