A huge part of why I love being a wedding photographer is that it lets me get to meet  people like Jon + Julie. Their candid engagement session at Whytecliff Park a few months back was was amazing and their wedding at the Terminal City Club in downtown Vancouver was much of the same. A little about the venue:

What sets this wedding venue apart from others in Vancouver is its combination of tradition, modern amenities and amazing spaces. Situated close to the Coal Harbour waterfront, the Terminal City Club is located right in the heart of downtown. In addition to the two classic ballrooms, TCC offers a number of garden patios as well. Ballrooms can seat anywhere from 130 – 250 guests and my personal favorite is the Metropolitan Ballroom. Its on the ground floor and features a built in hardwood dancefloor as well as luxurious chandeliers. When guest first enter the club they are greeted by an incredible stained glass ceiling which makes for the perfect first impression. The culinary team at the Terminal City Club ensures your guests are treated to the finest foods. One thing that I really like about the club is that they give you access early in the day in order to setup. Many venues in Vancouver nowadays will have specific time slots for you to access your venue and will often book multiple weddings in the same space throughout the day.

Julie and Jon placed a massive emphasis on their guests having fun and the day didn’t disappoint. Julie got ready with her bridesmaid upstairs in one of the suites and from the moment I arrived in the morning they didn’t stop laughing. It was infectious! A sweet letter and a stunning pair of new shoes from her fiancé Jon brought tears to everyone’s eyes. The ceremony took place in the Metropolitan Ballroom and one thing that stood out was how present everyone was. Rather than viewing the proceedings through their iphones and ipads, guest were engaged and it made the ceremony that much more meaningful. After the ceremony we took family portraits in the lobby of the club before venturing out into downtown for the wedding party portraits. We chased the sun as it popped out from between buildings and managed to get some really creative and genuine wedding portraits. Speeches during the reception had everyone bent over laughing and in no time Julie and Jon were taking to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife.
