As any bride knows, planning a wedding ain’t easy, but add in the *minor* detail of pregnancy, and you deserve all the awards. But Georgia did just that- and managed to pull off the perfect balance of elegant style and personal touch in the meantime. A beautiful Vancouver spring day (a rare sunny gem- Vancouverites will appreciate) set the stage for Georgia and Taylor’s union, warm and family-spirited. They had their wedding ceremony in Ryerson United Church (a building built by her grandfather) and drove to their Granville Island wedding reception in a sleek classic car. The False Creek Community Centre was the ideal wedding venue for long tables and family-style dining, the bride and groom mingling amongst guests as if they were, well, family. Earnest Ice Cream and fruit crumble replaced traditional wedding cake as pinatas watched from above, and when guests needed respite from dancing their socks off on the Persian carpet dance floor, they sunk into plush vintage couches that provided both comfort and flair. Cafe lighting throughout the hall added a final, stylish touch to create an atmosphere that was cosy, fun, and totally Georgia and Taylor. We took wedding photos throughout Granville island and even managed to sneak away from some “sunset” portraits at the dock outside of the False creek community centre.

A few words from the bride on her experience working with me: “I can’t begin to say how happy we are with Mathias’ work. He was a delight to work with from the day we contacted him, leading up to our wedding, and the wedding day itself. He was quick to respond to any questions or concerns, made everyone at the wedding feel totally at ease, and most importantly of all, he captured absolutely stunning photos! We are so thrilled to have so many beautiful photos to remember our wedding day by. I would not hesitate to recommend Mathias to anyone and I look forward to hiring him again in the future for other life events.”

A little bit more info on this budget friendly wedding venue located in the heart of Granville Island. False Creek Community centre has a range of options for your wedding reception and can seat anywhere from 60-200 people. The floor to ceiling windows along one side of the venue allow for beautiful natural light and look out over Sutcliffe Park and Alder Bay. The exposed wood ceiling creates a beautiful backdrop for your wedding and allows for plenty of flexibility with decor. One of my favorite things about weddings at False Creek Community centre is the outdoor space for your guests to mingle. Many people have a specific idea of what a community centre looks like but False Creek Community Centre looks much more like an established Vancouver wedding venue. With the right decor and ideas, the space can be transformed into a breathtaking space. I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner to help bring your ideas to life! The fact that this is a budget friendly Vancouver wedding venue allows you to allocate your money elsewhere. As far as location goes, this Granville Island wedding venue can’t be beat. Ample parking beside the venue means your guests won’t have to walk far while still feeling like their right in the middle of the action. Highly recommend considering the False Creek Community centre for your wedding!
